Nothing is decorated; everything is registered. The suite behaves like the bottle — machined, frosted, certain.

What this world had still to settle

Whether the waterline can hold the same height on every piece. Beginning at one measured height is the entire system, and the pieces are not the same shape — the liner and the signage have no comparable field.
Whether a blind deboss reads on bone board. The wordmark is pressed into dry white above the line; that is the one place the brand name appears, and it is the least visible mark in either world.
Whether “no ink above the waterline” leaves room for the facts. Everything printed lives below the line. The date, the address and the hour all have to fit under it on every piece.
Whether one typeface is discipline or a shortage. A second is banned by name. The invitation can carry that; a running order at a launch is where it starts to strain.

World B

Febbraio

The same three values read as memory: the actual Ligurian sea in February, photographed flat and long, the horizon standing in for the waterline. Type floats in the overcast sky in quiet graphite; the sea occupies the card’s lower field, deep and matte. The launch told as the founder’s sentence rather than the brand’s ruler.

What this world had still to settle

Whether a photograph of the sea stays flat. Shot long and overcast it is the founder's own sentence made literal — and any wave, foam or texture breaks the rule this world shares with the other.
Whether type floats legibly in an overcast sky. Graphite on a pale grey photograph is the tightest contrast in either world and it was never measured.
Whether the horizon can stand in for the waterline every time. It works when the picture has a horizon; the smaller crops may not, and then the system has no line.
Whether memory is the right register for a first launch. Telling it as the founder's sentence rather than the brand's ruler is warmer and gives a new perfume no system to be recognised by.
