The Midnight Dot

The finished suite

Eight pieces. And then one for every guest.

Every piece below is the delivered artwork, not a mock-up of it. The panel is live: put a name in it and watch each piece that carries a name take it, exactly as it does in a real print run.

The pieces that read the same for the whole room carry no name at all — and we say so.

The palette

Three Tones. One Midnight.

Midnight#0E0E2CCanvas · The hour before dawn · All backgrounds
Ivory Pearl#F0EBE0Primary text · Names · Dish copy · Pearl light
Champagne Gold#C9A96EAccent · Labels · Hairlines · Course headers

Not decoration — every one of these has a job, and they are the same inks the pieces below are printed in.

What the direction refused

Three things that are not here.

A direction is as much what it turns down. This list was written when Minuit Perlé was chosen, and every piece below holds to it.

Invitation

One design here
One design here

The complete mailing set: invitation, envelope exterior, and envelope liner as a single world. Pearl sphere photography fills the upper two-thirds of the invitation, dissolving into midnight. The exterior is pure restraint — all drama is reserved for the moment of opening, when the full-bleed liner reveals the pearl sphere world within. Seventy-five, fifty, and eighty-five percent decoration respectively.

Delivered here as one design. It is a piece the platform personalises per guest wherever a suite ships its platform edition.

Each guest's own code — live, and it scans. No piece in this suite carries a zone for it, so it reaches the guest through their personal link.

Welcome Cocktails

A shared piece
A shared piece

The arrival moment. Pearl sphere photography at the top, dissolving into midnight at 48%. Three signature cocktails — named within the pearl-sphere world — descend in Cormorant italic with DM Sans descriptors. The gold hairline separating label from list is the only structural element. Fifty-eight percent decoration: expressive enough to set the tone, restrained enough to be read at the bar.

It reads the same for the whole room, so it prints once.

Menu

One design here
One design here

Pearl sphere photograph fills the upper two-thirds. A deep, late-dissolve gradient burns from full photography into pure midnight — the world arrives before the menu does. Three courses anchor to the lower half: GALA and event name in the fade zone, each course label in gold. The second course offers a fish and meat choice, side by side.

Programme

A shared piece

Pearl sphere photograph at the top, dissolving into midnight at 44%. Identity — GALA, event name, section label — sits in the fade zone where world meets dark. Four entries distribute the full height of the card: time in champagne gold at left, activity in Cormorant italic, detail in DM Sans. Venue anchors the foot.

It reads the same for the whole room, so it prints once.

What the platform sets
What the platform sets

Landscape 2:1. One guest name in Cormorant italic, one thin gold rule, one table designation. Twenty-five percent decoration — the restraint is the design. Nothing competes with the person seated there.

This piece already carried a guest's name — it shipped showing real ones. The platform simply sets each guest's own.

"TABLE" in micro Space Grotesk caps, the roman numeral "VII" in 54px Cormorant italic, a gold hairline, the event name. Legible from across the room. Twenty percent decoration — almost nothing. Small portrait 2:3.

What the platform setsPois de Fête Minuit Perlé
The gang sheet

One approved design. One impression per guest.

Every impression below is the same delivered file — Place Card — with a different guest's name set into it, exactly as it comes off a real run. Not a mock-up: it is the piece shown above, personalised by the same code. The names are examples.

12 guests shown across 12 sheets. A real list simply continues — one run, one file per guest.

20
The living invitationPois de Fête Minuit Perlé
The Living Invitation

The same card. And also a page.

At the guest's own link the platform renders Invitation — this file, not a separate digital version — and adds a reply panel to it. On the left, as it prints, with no trace of the panel. On the right, as it opens.

As it prints
As it opens at their link

The panel is injected by the platform, not drawn by the design, and the printed card carries no trace of it. The right-hand state shows how it reads; for the platform to compose it into this piece, the file declares the empty container the Living Invitation expects.

The part you cannot see from a photograph

8Print files, not templatesThe eight designs above are delivered as print-ready files — at the true trim size, with the backgrounds and the fonts the printer expects. The one that carries a name becomes a personalised file for every guest on the list.
01Only what should carry a nameOne of the eight pieces carries a name. The rest read the same for the whole room, so they print once — and each one says so.
1:2One code, two jobsEach guest's own code opens their own page. The same code, read at the door, marks them arrived — so the host knows who is in the room without a clipboard.
1:∞A chart that redraws itselfThe table cards above are generated from the event's own list, not typeset one at a time. The seating chart is drawn in the portal from that same list, so moving a guest between tables is a change of one field — not a new piece of artwork.
The invitation is also a pageThe same card, at the same guest’s link, with a reply panel drawn into it. Not a separate digital version in a different style — the design itself, continued. It is further down this page, in both of its states.
